The 321 series were added to pan Am’s fleet in 1959. This was the most successful aircraft till it was replaced by the B747. Because of the JT-4 engines which provided 156 tons of lift and extended it range to 4000 miles, Pan Am jets could now fly nonstop from New York to Frankfurt, Rome or Rio de Janiero.
